Infants and young children who suffer from diarrheal diseases are primarily caused by rotaviruses. Drops are used to give the vaccine, which contains a weakened version of the virus to boost immunity.

Researchers at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, US, found that although preterm newborns, who are typically maintained in the NICU, are more likely to contract the highly contagious but avoidable virus, few of them get the vaccination due to concerns about transmission.
The researchers analyzed 3,448 weekly stool samples from 774 patients between January 2021 and January 2022 in order to gain an understanding.
