The grazing of sheep under large solar arrays at a utility scale can create the wealth of future and present livestock farmers, as well as provide providers, and also access to more grassland. In the Cornell Cooperative Enterprise Program (CEP) carried out a survey in the spring of this year, which was which was completed by nearly 600 farmers in order to determine the requirements and possibilities to collaborate to address the issues in terms of scale and size in grazing sheep under utility-scale solar arrays. A majority of respondents said that they needed an organization led by producers to make agreements, offer assurance, transportation and supervise sheep there. With the amount of sheep expected to increase, 88% of farmers feel there’s the need for more marketing and branding services as well as slaughter and processing.
