Schuck’s and Hy-Vee A number of cream cheese spreads are being recalled by three regional supermarkets in the Midwest: Hornbacher’s, Hy-Vee, and Schnuck Markets. The recall is due to the possibility of salmonella contamination in the products.
Hy-Vee, a retailer based in West Des Moines, Iowa, announced on Monday that it was recalling two varieties of Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread and bulk-packaged Cookies & Cream Mix. The Food and Drug Administration also publicized the announcement.
Schuck’s and Hy-Vee The recalled products were offered for sale at more than 280 retail locations in eight Midwestern states: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. They were sold under Hy-Vee’s bulk packaging and private label programs.
Young, weak, or old people are susceptible to serious and occasionally deadly infections caused by salmonella. Fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain are some possible symptoms.
Hy-Vee advised customers who bought the recalled goods to either discard them or return them for a refund. In addition, Schnuck Markets, a company based in St. Louis, is recalling three cheese spreads due to a potential salmonella contamination:
Schuck’s and Hy-Vee The UPC for Schuck’s Whip Cream Spread is 4131858005, and it expires on August 8, 2024. Schuck’s Strawberry Spread (UPC 4131858007) has a September 8, 2024, best-by date.
The best-by date of Schuck’s Cream Cheese Spread, UPC 4131858023, is October 8, 2024. The business, which has 115 locations across Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin, advises customers to return the recalled goods for a refund or exchange.
A representative for Hy-Vee identified the supplier of cream cheese as Schreiber Foods of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and confirmed that the company and Schuck’s utilized the same supplier.
Schuck’s and Hy-Vee According to a Schuck’s spokesman who talked with CBS News, the products were recalled by Schreiber Foods after Schuck’s received notification from a vendor, Itasca, Illinois-based Topco Associates. According to a Schuck’s representative, Schreiber Foods was notified by a supplier that the protein concentrate used in the recalled goods may be contaminated with salmonella.
Schreiber was also mentioned by Hornbacher’s, a grocery chain based in Moorhead, Minn., which has eight locations in Minnesota and North Dakota. On Tuesday, the company announced the recall of Essential Everyday Garden Vegetable Cream Cheese Spread, which has a best-by date of September 1, 2024 and a UPC code of 41303006252.
An inquiry for comment was not immediately answered by Schreiber Foods.
