Murray State will be represented by Chelby Melvin and Meghan Fletcher at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will take place on Thursday, June 6 and Saturday, June 8 at the renowned Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

 

Fletcher is scheduled to compete in her second straight national championship, while Melvin is competing for the Racers for the first time at the collegiate championships. Murray State is the only programme in the MVC to send multiple women, and one of four Valley schools to send multiple student-athletes to Oregon.

 

The 400-meter hurdles preliminary round, which Melvin will compete in on Thursday, begins at 9:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2. At the East Regional in Lexington, Kentucky, she ran a run of 56.49, setting a new school record. In five of her six races, she has set new records.

 

ESPN will air Fletcher’s high jump competition on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. CT. At the East Regional, she cleared 1.81 metres on her third try, shattering her own school mark of 1.79 metres. On her third try at the height, she set a new programme record of 1.84 metres.
